Healthy Aging workshops are designed to help older adults lead a healthy active lifestyle while maintaining independence. Our workshops focus on Fall Prevention and Chronic Disease Management, and they are available for free throughout our service area.

All Healthy Aging offerings are evidence-based, which means they have been scientifically tested and shown to produce verifiable results for individuals who have completed the workshops.Our programs have been designed with a lay-leader model, making it easy to train others whose lives may be impacted by balance concerns or chronic diseases to become instructors! DEEP

The Diabetes Empowerment Education Program, also known as DEEP™, is a six-week class designed to help people with pre-diabetes, diabetes, relatives, and caregivers gain a better understanding of diabetes self-care. Classes provide participants with eight unique learning modules, including topics like signs and risk factors for diabetes, using exercise to help managediabetes, healthy eating for controlling blood sugar,and preventing diabetes complications.

A Matter Of Balance

Did you know that falling is the most common cause of death and serious injury among older adults? Many older adults begin to restrict their activities because of concerns about falling. A Matter of Balance workshops are designed for older adults who have anxieties about falling or who have fallen in the past.

A Matter of Balance is a 2-hour 8 session intervention program designed to help participants increase their levels of fall efficacy, falls management, falls control, exercise and social limitations with regard to concerns about falling.

Tai Chi Programs

Tai Chi is a low-impact form of Chinese martial arts that involves slow, controlled, flowing movements. It can help improve hand-eye coordination, enhance health and fitness, improve balance, reduce stress and provide a gentle aerobic workout. Elder Options provides two different types of Tai Chi.

Tai Chi For Arthritis And Fall Prevention

A 1 hour twice a week 8-week intervention program designed to increase muscle strength, improve balance and improve self- efficacy.

Tai Chi Quan: Moving For Better Balance

Tai Chi Quan Moving for Better Balance is a 1 hour twice a week 24- week program. The program is an exercise intervention that relieves overall stress, improves cardiovascular fitness and prevents falls among high fall risk older adults.

Bingocize

Bingocize is a 1 hour twice a week 10- week program that promotes health education through a mix of exercise and bingo. Each session consists of exercises that focus on range of motion, balance, muscle strengthening, and endurance exercises, or health education questions.
