Emergency Home Energy Assistance Program (EHEAP)
Florida’s Emergency Home Energy Assistance Program (EHEAP) assists households facing a home energy crisis (heating or cooling). To be eligible for assistance, households must have a documented heating emergency such as a delinquent bill or shut -off notice. Additionally, the gross household income must be less than 150% of the federal poverty guidelines. One member of the household must be age 60 or older to receive assistance.
Update July 1, 2026: Applying for Crisis Energy Assistance
If you or an older adult you know is facing a home energy crisis (such as a past-due notice or disconnection), please use one of the following options to apply for assistance:
- Apply Online: Seniors can apply for LIHEAP (Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program) crisis assistance directly through the Florida LIHEAP Online Portal. https://floridaliheap.com The portal is mobile-friendly and allows applicants to complete and submit an application electronically.
- Apply through Community Action Agency Seniors may also contact their local Community Action Agency (CAA), which serves as a LIHEAP subrecipient in their county. CAAs can assist with in-person applications and provide guidance on available crisis benefits. To find the local CAA serving a particular county, seniors or their caseworkers may contact FloridaCommerce or visit www.FloridaJobs.org/LIHEAPHelp for a directory of local providers.
