If you provide unpaid assistance to your spouse, a relative, or friend who is ill, disabled, or needs help with basic activities of daily living, you are a caregiver. You may be providing help with transportation to the doctor’s office or grocery store to your loved one; perhaps you assist with shopping or errand running or bill paying; you may be helping your loved one with dressing, bathing, walking, meal preparation, or helping them move from their bed to a chair or wheelchair, or maybe you are a grandparent raising a grandchild.
