Did you know that Medicare health and drug plans can change every year? It is important to review your coverage for changes in things like cost, coverage, drug formularies, and provider and pharmacy networks. The Open Enrollment Period (OEP) is the time to make any necessary adjustments to your plan to ensure that you have the best coverage to meet your health needs for 2019. Medicare can be a daunting subject, and OEP only runs from October 15 – December 7! Take this opportunity to utilize a local, valuable resource: the Florida Department of Elder Affairs’ SHINE (Serving Health Insurance Needs of Elders) Program. The SHINE mission is to provide free and unbiased information about Medicare and Medicaid for beneficiaries, their families, and caregivers. SHINE also educates beneficiaries to protect, detect, and report potential errors, fraud, and abuse with their Medicare coverage. To find out more, please call 1-800-96-ELDER (1-800-963-5337), or visit www.floridashine.org.
